The last half of the 15th century saw armor reach its apex of beauty, in both form and function. The German school of armor making imitated the angular and pointed Gothic architecture of the period, which can be seen in our beautiful crafted version of a German Gothic Cuirass. Richly fluted, our Cuirass comes with fauld and tassets in the "English Style", and would have been a common sight on the battlefields of The War of the Roses. Knights on the continent preferred a more widely flaring fauld without tassets, with cuishes extending higher up on the thigh, to close the gap. The fleur-de-lis on the peak of the placard gives it a personal touch. Handcrafted by Windlass Steelcrafts in India of 18 gauge steel. The original we copied was made for Hank by Canadian Armorer Peter Fuller, whose work can be seen in such prestigious institutions as the Higgins Armory Museum, Royal Ontario Museum, and the Canadian !
