English vs. Viking Medieval Chess Set with Glass Chess Board elevated by  four detailed Castles

From a time long ago in the very early period of the Brits (England) during a pivotal point in history when all of the United Kingdom (England, Ireland, etc.) was defending its self from the invading Vikings, who were exploring and yes even conquering many lands.

This is a time when Kingdoms were uniting themselves under marriage to build forces to withstand the ever increasing forces of the Vikings.

This historical event was the end of the 9th century and the beginning of the 10th century when the house of Wessex, under the leadership of King Alfred the Great and the house of Mercia under the leadership of King Althelred (who married King Alfred's daughter) to combine forces to drive back and drive out the Vikings.

And what was the boundary between the Brits and the Vikings?  The River Thames!

So now you and a formidable foe are locked in combat and the future of the Brits are at stake.  The board is the River Thames and each side is the land you and the Vikings are wanting to gain or the land you the combined forces of Wessex and Mercia are trying to regain.

Who will win?  You are writing the history.....

You can see the detailing of the corner castles that hold the glass board, also see the detailing of the board with Viking and early celt knot work and serpents.
