"Narsil essenya, macil meletya; Telchar carnéron Návarotesse" Written in Tengwar in the Quenya language of the High Elves, the inscription reads: "Narsil is my name, a mighty sword; Telchar made me in Nogrod". |
|
| The Sword of Elendil,
forged in the First Age by Telchar of Nogrod (a dwarvish smith, and one
of the greatest in the history of Middle-earth), was said to shine with
the light of the sun and the moon, with red and white fire. The name 'Narsil'
is derived from the Quenya names for the sun and the moon, 'Anar' and 'Isil'
respectively. At the siege of Barad-dûr in the war of the Last Alliance,
Elendil fell and Narsil broke beneath him. Elendil's son, Isildur cut the
Ring of power from the hand of Sauron with a shard of his father's sword.
Narsil is the Officially licensed Sword from The
Lord of the Rings Movie. It's features include antique silver plated metal
parts with 24Kt gold plated fittings and leather wrapped handle. Engraved
on the pommel are runes in the Elven language of Sindarin. The wooden display
plaque shown is included.
